Back in July I announced that I had been appointed
Specialist Adviser to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the draft
Communications Data Bill and that, for the time being, I would not be
commenting on anything that anyone could remotely link with the work of that
Joint Committee. People anxious for an up-to-date briefing on the Joint
Committee’s work were advised to check out the Committee’s website.
The Joint Committee was appointed by the House of Commons on 21 June and by the House of Lords on 28 June to examine the draft Bill and to report to both Houses by 30 November.
Having completed this task, the Joint Committee has now been adjourned.
When the report is published, on 11 December, I’ll be blogging about its conclusions, recommendations and implications.
